WHAT IS HUMAN TRAFFICKING?

Human trafficking is a global crime that trades in people and exploits them for profit. People of all genders, ages and backgrounds can become victims of this crime, which occurs in every region of the world.

The ACT of trafficking, which means the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons.

The MEANS of trafficking which includes threat of or use of force, deception, coercion, abuse of power
or position of vulnerability.

The PURPOSE of trafficking is always exploitation.  To benefit from treating another unfairly.

It is slavery.

WHY NORTH AFRICA?

While human trafficking occurs in every corner of the globe North Africa is uniquely situated in the world as a Source, Destination, and Transit for human trafficking.

With the economic disadvantages, social and cultural obstacles, women and girls in North Africa may grow up with little access to education, basic understanding of their rights, and skills empowering them to have a voice in their futures. These perpetuating factors create increased vulnerability rates to human trafficking for many individuals  across the country.

The vast majority of traffickers operate in developing countries where they are more likely to get away with their crimes.  Yet their criminal activity can be found everywhere, including the United States and Europe.

OUR SOLUTION

Break the Cycle of Vulnerability

We know you believe in freedom and with your help we will break the cycle of vulnerability.

Transition Homes

Everyone needs safe, decent and stable housing, with an atmosphere of love to learn and grow in.  All of our girls would be forced onto the streets without Beauty For Ashes Transition home.  Our home provides for their immediate and basic needs, but our efforts go much deeper and further too.

Our home is a safe place for girls to discover their value and identity.  To have a space where they are not worried about how they will survive the night, and can for the first time dream of their future and who they want to be.
